Pros:
Excellent in inclement weather.
Looks cool |
Cons:
Gas Mileage if you're a commuter,
Can be noisy and not much pick up on the highway. |
Review:
But I've had my Xterra for about 2 years now. Overall, I do like this
vehicle; but there are a few things about it that make me feel a bit
uneasy. The pick up is pretty lousy. Getting onto
the highway, it takes a bit to feel confident moving out in front of
anyone.
On windy days (I live in New England.. there are
many), I feel the truck being taken a bit too much to my liking; as it sits
high.
Once you finally can get to 60, it shakes too much
to my liking; but it seems to even out at 70. But I don't like that
timespan, makes me feel uneasy.
Has quite a lean factor on off-ramps; perhaps it's
just me being new to an SUV.
Overall, the gas mileage is not great; but I knew
that when I bought it, and I don't have to commute; so I knew that wouldn't
not be a factor for me.
I have to say though, the 4x4 drive has been a
god-send this winter. I have to trudge up a pretty large hill home, and
when I have driven by others stranded, I feel good about having this truck
for that. |

Pros:
style, off-road capabilities |
Cons:
acceleration |
Review:
mine is a 04 V6 SE 4WD non-SC model. i live in so. cal.
so the weather nor terrain calls for 4WD but i occasionally would find an
excuse to use it. truck has great on or offroad performance. a lil' wind
noise can be heard while cruising due to the roofrack. no need to discuss
gas mileage, afterall it IS a SUV. Driver seat is comfortable on long trips
with lumbar support. The only thing i'd mention about is the acceleration.
then again, the rear wheels are pushing a 5000 lbs metal. |

Pros:
Great Rockford Fosgate sound system, off-roading, first
aid kit, charcoal wheels are nice, Looks Great!! |
Cons:
plastic bumpers |
Review:
I like how some of the reviews say "this SUV sucks of
the line" and "a ford focus can even dust you". well let me tell you this is
not for you to race at the track. it is meant to be a great utility SUV and
it is. I bought it cause i like to do a lot of off- roading. Im also planing
on replacing the crappy plastic bumber with a Shrockworks bumper. I bought
the fully loaded SE without the supercharger. |

Cons:
gas mileage, low giddy-up-n-go |
Review:
I was finally able to purchase an Xterra, since I've always wanted one.
While I'd rather not talk about the gas mileage, the vehicle is "everything
[I] need, nothing [I] don't". It is especially nice in the winter when I
have to go up the narrow mountain road to work. |

Pros:
off-road capability; cargo room (held 16cubic foot fridge
for transport); manual transmission; ground clearance; turning radius;
suspension; low market price. |
Cons:
Gas milage; gearing too low; Wind noise due to the
wet-basket; power could be better |
Review:
This being my second Nissan Xterra; I am very familiar
with this chassis. Both times I have gotten the 180hp V6 with the manual
transmission which will dust most cars off the line for the first 2-3
seconds until the low gears hamper faster acceleration. She tows quite well
(due to the lower gears) but I can only average around 17-19 MPG combined
driving. The suspension is very good; it will take an on ramp at 60mph with
no hesitation or slide if you have the right tires, and it is superb
off-road. The 2004 I notice though has issues with the paint and the chrome
plating on its plastic surfaces, so beware of the rust. The turning radius
is what sold me on these in the first place. |
