Review:

I purchased a Nissan Altima in May 2005. It was my very first purchase straight out of College. I had it 4 months and experienced horrible shaking while sitting idle. It went to the shop for a day, resulting in no codes generating. I had also experienced rough ride on the highway and extreme pulling to one side of the road. Put it in the shop again no codes generated. Car then began to hesitate as I put it into reverse and drive after being parked in a parking garage all day. Put it in the shop no codes were generated. Then 42k(after warranty was up) I experienced loss of power while driving down the road and low acceleration. There were no lights on, no horn working, no power period! I took it to the shop after it died twice before getting there and they could not reproduce a code; however, there was another car in the shop that was experiencing the same problem, needless to say it did regenerate a code (was under warranty) Did they think I would not want to pay for the repair or risk dying on the highway b/c Nissan did not know what was wrong with it. Since when did technicians rely on machines to diagnose problems. Just like going to the doctor. you give the symptoms the doctor tells you what he thinks is wrong before he confirms. It's not rocket science. Doooooooooo not buy a NISSAN AAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLTIMA@!

Pros:

Great looks,comfort and speed.

Cons:

Problems started at 400 kilometers(240 miles) when I hit a "bump" in the road. Nothing but headaches and frustration to repair.
Front and back brakes including rotors had to be replaced at 58K(34,000 miles)...$1100...car used mainly for trips to the US...meaning very little stop/go city driving.
Small pieces falling off the car..door trim... case holder for sunglasses ...plastic frame around door power controls....some UFO piece hanging from bottom of the car(dealer never did tell me what it was) Lest I forget 2 ever popular check engine light problems that were simply reset but no cause discovered Air Conditioner works poorly

Review:

My 2005 3.5S Altima is my fourth Altima. The previous 3 were great value for the money. This 2005 model will be my last one for sure based on not only the problems with the car itself but also the after purchase service from both my local Nissan dealer and Nissan Canada.

Pros:

Amazing torque and speed, 0-60 always a thrill. The V6 is quite a respectable performer

Cons:

1: Both struts failed, 6 months apart
2: Hard 1-2 shift
3: In winter, NO heat at idle, you have to be moving to get it back... strange...
4: Brakes re-done front & back $800 total after only 20 000 miles. We do mostly highway, never had that issue with other cars.
5: Rushing water noise under dash.
6: Bad vibes in tires
As you can see the usual with this car...

Review:

I have owned, 3 Accords, 1 Camry, 1 Corolla. I have been at the dealer more times than all previous cars put together, I am disappointed but when I look at the car and I do my 0 to 60 in 6 sec, sometimes it makes my forget the problems. Still unsure if I will be a Nissan Altima owner again...
