Pros:
very powerful and responsive, aggressive look, looks of compartment,
four 12 volt outlet, very roomy cargo, pretty comfortable front and back
seat, |
Cons:
gas mileage, no locking glove compartment, fog light should've been
standard at least with the power package, more interior fabric color option
(ie black) bumper step is minutely useable. stock step rail is practically
unusable for backseat passenger. 05's have old school antenna, 06 has built
in hidden antenna |
Review:
The X is very a versatile, comfortable, good looking SUV. I like
how aggressive it looks especially compared to the pathfinder or Murano. It
has a lot of compartments to store items into. It's very practical. Probably
too practical. Normally it comes w/ auto trans, power doors/windows/locks
and cruise control. I have the S 4x2 model although I did get what I paid
for, I would say that among the things that I really wanted for a truck
would be: auto dimming rear view mirror w/ compass, steering wheel audio
controls, locked glove compartment, and fog lights. I got the truck in Feb.
06 and just last week I took it to Nissan cuz I had problems w/ steering
already. other than that I never really experienced anything serious at all. |

We stopped by the Nissan dealer to look at an Xterra. We are
making preparations to move to N. VA, where I will work in DC area. In sw
Texas you don't need a 4X4 unless you are a hunter or off road nut. I did
enough off road in the army. The 4X4 is for snow.
Please note, I have never purchased a brand new vehicle. I inspect for
certain things, and I can tell if a vehicle is in good condition to
purchase.
At first she was not pleased with the Xterra, but the 2005 prorgram
vehicle had the running boards, and that impressed her.
We've only had it for about 3 weeks, so I can say little with respect to
performance. It gets almost 21 mpg. I have yet to upgrade the system with
dual exhaust, etc. Wish it was a 6 speed stick, but she would not want it.
We have a new grand daughter on the way, and the most important point of
this vehicle is the fact of safety for her when she rides with us.
Will report later on performance. |

Pros:
love the power and actual truck like look and feel, second I love the
fact that you cant get all the bells and whistles like gps and premium
leather seats, go drive a Toyota if you want that, you only get what you
need and what you pay for! |
Cons:
backseat leg room, I am over 6 foot tall and its a lil cramped, gas
mileage should be a lil better for a v6 but hey with all that power I don't
mind the trade off |

Got it as a graduation gift from college, Great!
but here come the problems, 3 months in low tire pressure light come on,
Underinflated tires from factory, easy fix non the less.....then moved from
Florida to new Hampshire, towed a trailer fine the entire way 1500 miles
getting 19 miles to the gallon, not bad pretty impressive, then hitch
recall, again easy fix, middle of winter on a toll road, rolled window down,
never went back up, 4 months later, today same problem, great truck, just
minor problems |

I've had three Xterra's. Finally got the one I wanted black off road
package loaded up. Got it home then it began. First the tire pressure light
came on, then it snowed put it into 4x4 acted weird. Brought it in they put
the wrong rear differential in it from the factory I have an auto they put a
standard, they fixed it. Picked it up the dealership dented the fender, they
fixed it, got home the heater fan is making all kinds of noise, waiting on
that one, today went to hook up quick connect for my trailer hitch no power
to the stock quick connect. I love the way this trucks drives and I live the
appearance but enough is enough, think i have a lemon. |

Pros:
Cool look. Very versatile inside. Lots of power. |
Cons:
Lots of plastic inside and out. Rear seat material "pulls" easily.
Window creaks when open. Rear windows go down half way. |
Review:
I've had my 2005 X-terra since April of '05. Since being called-in for
the recall in October it has been in the shop about 8 times and currently
sits there. If the temperature drops below 40 degrees the dash gauges go
haywire upon start up. The engine will also go into "fail-safe" at this
time. They've finally decided to replace the instrument cluster and I await
that part's delivery--which is backordered. The dealer's shop discolored the
plastic front grill with some type of spray wax. Also was curiously low on
transmission fluid and not shifting properly last month. Don't know what
happened there?? Possible lemon. |
