I did have a 2001 Xterra. Last Thursday a car pulled out in front of me
and I slammed into it. My baby was totaled. However, everything worked
perfect. Both airbags deployed. I am still sore from impact. I am happy to
say that I just bought a used 2003 Xterra SuperCharged. I will pick it up
this weekend. Try to avoid accidents, they are not worth all the trouble
with insurance.

I have 193,000 miles on my SUV. It has preformed better than I expected.
I have done all the regular maintance's and have not had many problems. I
did have problems with powered windows not long after it was purchased. The
dealership took care of it. I just replaced the drive shaft because it was
about to fall out. The universal joints were shot and was told they are not
replaceable. I had to replace the whole drive shaft.$800.00 total for that
repair. Why did Nissan design it that way? Also the Air Conditioner is
working off and on and the dealership keeps changing parts but not getting
the problem fixed. I have seen others have similar problems with there a/c
and can't get them fixed. It must be the same thing. Other than that...The
2001 Xterra is awesome and I still am glad I have one.

-Fun to drive -Looks great -No issues after five years -Excellent customer service at our local dealer
Cons:
Not the greatest mileage -They changed the look a year or two later (and I don't think it looks as good)
Review:
We are just about at 100,000 kms on our Xterra and we
have had no major issues. There has been a couple of recalls and a few minor
items that the dealer has taken care of.
Gas mileage isn't great but hey it is a truck-SUV so no surprise there. Lots
of room, lots of fun to drive and it looks great.
Looking forward to many more years of driving...

Review:
Found out about the Power Window Regulators recall took care front window in
Charged $227.00 (Had 63k on care) Called Consumer affairs (which is in
India) had a terrible time with language barrier) they told me it was
covered to Fax in the invoice, proof of payment, and registration copy and
they would reimburse me. following week rear right window broke took it back
to the dealer and referenced the above. They said not covered over 60k miles
and would call India (consumer affairs) Car @ dealer two days. Dealer called
and said pick up car as they repaired all windows @ no charge. A day later
Hanna Hindu calls me from India and says they will not reimburse me for the
initial repair. Thank goodness the Americans saved me from the Japanese and
the Indians. NO MORE NISSANS FOR ME AGAIN (and I've had five)
