Review:
Bought my 2002 in 2005, with around 35,000 miles on it from a reputable dealer. At 50,000 miles, the passenger power window motor
died. The gas cap cover has become mis-aligned and sometimes you need a screwdriver to open it. The front pre-cat/manifold went
out at 83,000 miles, right after the warranty expired. Thanks Nissan, I've read enough to know that this means my engine is probably
already on its way out. Yes, the recall shield work was done at 17,000 miles, so apparently your recall didn't really prevent anything
from happening. I wish I would have never bought this thing.

Pros:
Minor maintenace, good gas mileage w/ manual, 5disc cd changer w/ Bose sound system and amp, leather, power and heated
seats, moonroof and very spacious seating esp. in backseat.
|
Cons:
Weak latches on doors, non-manual floor mats, headlights become hazy over yrs, and even though I have not encountered it,
it seems that as if the rear springs or coil overs tend to go. The back end always seems to be a little lower in the rear
than the front over yrs.

I bought my 2002 Altima 3.5SE 5speed from an original owner with no problems in 2007. At almost 150,000 miles I have had close to
none problems with it. Minor things, new battery, new headlight and taillight bulbs, new tires and a tune up. It is a great performing
car, for only stock parts it is very fast and reliable. With 240hp and up to 246hp with a 5speed and 240lbs of torque, I put other
imports and american muscle to shame. From Acura Integras with GSR's and Infiniti G35's to a Ford Mustang GT, they have all been
surprised to loose to a 4dr sedan that doesn't look like much but a stock family car. Don't be fooled. And it's not even the SE-R edi.

Review:
I got the car used with no background from "Joe Public". The car has no
clearcoat on hood/roof or trunk. Headlights are hazed as if it was not
sealed properly. 02 senor codes. Ticking in engine. Per-cat going bad is a
common thing in 02 but Nissan will not stand behind this because I can not
produce proof of maintenance. I just got the car but the cat is a major
problem for this make. Nissan last forever and I can't believe Nissan is not
standing up to this. I have another Nissan and I have never had anything
wrong but thermostat. It's a 92 pick-up.

Review:
I normally do not write reviews but after reading all the negative ones
here I had to post this.
We purchased the Altima 3.5 SE new. After 6 ½ years
and 190,000 KM we are still in love with it. Maintenance so far has been
minimal. For oil changes and regular service I followed Nissans recommended
maintenance schedule. The tires have lasted as long as they are rated.
Brakes have been done once. The only real problems; battery recently
replaced (- 30 C Canadian winters are killers on batteries) and one rear
wheel bearing (under $100.00). Car still runs and drives as well as or
better than any new car I have been in. There was, I believe, 3 recalls
which I think is normal for any new car.
This is with out a doubt the best car we have ever
owned. Since we purchased the Altima we have bought and sold a new GMC
truck and a new Chevy Cavalier. We kept comparing them to the Altima and
the ride/fit/finish seemed like garbage compared to the Altima. I would
personally recommend the Altima 3.5 to anyone.

Review:
I've spent about 2 weeks researching the 2002 Altima SL and I've noticed
that I found extremely BAD reviews. Also, I've found that MOSTLY every
single one of these negative reviews had one thing in common with my car. My
car has been at the dealer for over 2 weeks and still they can not find the
"real" problem. They need to recall the whole car and give us our money
back! According to their $304 dollar diagnostic my car needed a new throttle
body since my car would not crank over when cold and it does not go over 10
miles per hr., after replacing the throttle it continued to do the same
thing, turns out the throttle wasn't the problem; now they're trying to
charge me an additional $508 + $208 dollars for labor to change the IPDM.
Now I just have to wait and see. After sleepless nights and stress over my
car, the service advisor still had the audacity to tell me to trust
him/dealer/mechanic "we're here for you" he said...yeah right?!...oh, and
$250 dollars to change a $16 dollar belt. Dang creeps!!!
