Review:
First of all I let me state that I love my Maxima. It is by far the best
car I have owned. The problem lies with the Goodyear tires on it. I noticed
my front left and rear tires had a 4 inch crack on the sidewall. I took the
car to the dealer and they refered me to Goodyear authorized dealer for a
tire inspection. All 4 tires are cracked. Now I am told that I will have to
pay a prorated price for 4 new tires. This is so not fair. Is there anything
I can do to avoid paying for defective tires?

Engine quits due to computer program and tire cracking.
|
Review:
We've had this car for 2 years and loved it...initially. Just last week
the car just quit. It turns out it's a computer bug that Nissan knows about,
but isn't telling anyone...they won't recall this, but they'll recall a
sunroof? It stopped on the highway and left my family stranded in the middle
of nowhere!
The car is still under warranty, but Nissan is saying we're on our own. We
received the same response when our tires were cracking (again, still under
warranty). I apparently have to take legal action to get them to stand
behind their warranty. I've had nothing but horrible experiences with
Nissan's customer service for all warranty problems and NMAC financing. I
will never come back to this company and will get rid of this car as soon as
I have a chance.

We have had this car for almost 2 years and now the service engine soon
light has come on. That is just another reason to take this care back to the
shop. Outside of the exhaust that rattles, sky view replacement, peeling
grill (again) and the transmission that jerks its been a good car. At least
my CD player works. Its hard to believe I spent 30,000 on a car that spends
more time in the shop than my 1996 Yukon. Please give me what I owe and its
yours lol.

I just had my tires rotated for the fourth time and discovered my tire
are "cracking" this is a problem with all four tires...I hope that Nissan
replace my tires due to the high cost maybe $900 to replace all four. please
Nissan replace the tires this is an unexpected cost to consume.

Pros:
The car is beautiful, handled great until the tires problems started.
The gas mileage is totally awesome. Best car I have ever owned. This is the
fourth Maxima I have owned.
|
Cons:
Problems encountered with the skyroof glass recall, took four times
after it was replaced to get the water leak corrected. The tire issue is a
major concern for everyone's safety, not just your family but others that
may be injured due to a tire failure of your car.

Review:
My 2004 Nissan Maxima is by far the best car I have ever driven
performance wise. I have had every scheduled maintenance required. In June
2005 I took my car in for the 30,000 mile service and was told all four of
my tires were splitting around the entire inside circumference of the tires.
Goodyear would not help me out so the dealer put a set of the same tires on
my car as I was leaving for vacation the following day. Goodyear was going
to charge me $900.00 to replace the 4 tires, the dealer had a set they had
taken off another 2004 Maxima and sold them to me for $400.00 which I did
appreciate. After reading the complaints on the National Transportation
Safety Administration website I can tell you the Goodyear Eagle RS-A
P245/45R18 tires are a lawsuit waiting to happen. I took my tires from the
dealership, if you look at them from the outside or look at the tread they
still look almost new. The splitting is on the inside where the car owner
cannot view. I have had my tires rotated 3 times and on the last rotation it
was caught. One tire with this problem I could have understood but all four
indicates a manufacture defect and Goodyear and Nissan should step up to the
plate and provide new tires at no cost to their loyal customers.

My 2004 Maxima has only 8400 miles on it and I have already had to
replace the following. Both front struts, both front rotors, 1 engine mount,
and the CD player. Now, about the front end shimmy and vibration problem. I
believe the problem is in the stock wheels or the tires. I had a very bad
shimmy problem with my car, but then I put my 04 Maxima on 20" chrome wheels
with 20" Toyo TI-S tires and I have never had the problem again. So, I
believe the problem must be in the stock tires and wheels. Just a thought
though...

I've had my Maxima for a year now and have tried 6 times to fix the
shimmy in the front end. Between go the the Nissan dealer and Goodyear tire
stores I'm sick of it. I can't believe Nissan built a car that you can't
enjoy owning. I wish I could take this car and shove it up the engineers you
know what. Nissan you better admit you have a problem and start fixing these
cars because this is the kind of PR you can't afford.

This is my 2nd fully loaded Maxima that I've had for 8 months now, the
other being a '94 that I really enjoyed. The only problem that I have is
with the cd player that's been replaced once and has gone out again. But
that's Bose, not Nissan. Front end shimmy is common for Maximas but if you
can find someone that can balance tires right, it can be eliminated. The
suspension is touchy but when all is adjusted right, handles great! Tire
pressure makes a big difference too. Been on three 600+ mile trips and the
car basically drives itself. Once the driver's seat was broke in to 'me',
it's quite comfortable. Surprised at the power the stock engine has. Love
all the little 'extras'. Won't be my last Maxima and I've been a GM fan for
years.

When I first got my Maxima SL I had it up to 110 mph on the highway and
it handled perfectly. At 2,300 miles I had the tires rotated and developed a
shimmy at 60 mph. I called for an appointment at the Nissan dealership in
Sarasota and was told that it was a tire problem and take it to a
Continental tire dealership. Continental gave me 90% back on the tires and I
bought Pirelli's. Now it shimmies at 47 mph. Nissan said I shouldn't have
gone to a better tire and it's not their fault. So I'm going after them
under the lemon law. They know there is a TSB about the shimmy but wouldn't
tell me, hoping I'd go away.
