Pros:

Gas Mileage, Roomy for a sub conpact.

Cons:

Hub caps come off while driving, gas tank cover release breaks. Tightly geared manual transmission. Have to take off the intake manifold to change spark plugs. In summer conditions such as Las Vegas(105F) The AC takes 30 minutes to start to actually cool the cabin of the car.

Review:

The car can be nice to look at. But it has no power. I have driven the A/T and M/T versions and i would feel sorry for the people who drive the A/T. I think the option to put a Turbo in the car would be great.

Pros:

Lots of interior room, especially in the back seat.
Extremely smooth with the CVT.
Rides good for a small car.
Decent gas mileage with the CVT.
Excellent power considering design targets/limitations.

Cons:

Too much wind noise from "A" pillar & mirror.
Two dash rattles & one hatch rattle.
Heater/AC blower fan too loud when on high.
Front seats not very comfortable.
High beams are weak.

Review:

So far after the first 415 miles, I'm really overall impressed with this car. My first tank of gas gave me a return of 31.04 mpg with a driving mix of 18.6% highway and 81.4% city driving. The fuel warning light came on at 334 miles. I try to keep the rpms below 2300 for better gas mileage.

Things I have noticed, both good and bad to date:

There is too much wind noise coming from around the A pillar. This appears to be a mirror design issue, very similiar to what happened on the 98 Altima. Nissan corrected this by increasing the thickness of the window in 99 and finally a mirror redesign in 2000. I drove an 08 Sentra and there was a big difference in wind noise. The Sentra was much quieter. Summary...Design issue.

The driver's side window seal guide tab was turned under and caught between the upper part of the door and the window itself. I was able to realign/position this tab as originally intended. This issue did not affect the wind noise issue above. This defect should have been caught at the factory on the final line inspection point. Summary...Assembly point defect.

I have two rattles that I consider beyond the norm. One rattle is coming from the dash just above the fuel gauge. You can just push down above the gauge and the rattle goes away. More than likely, a push tab is either not latched all the way or the tab missed the hole altogether. I have the dealer check this at some point. Summary...Assembly point defect for failing to catch this on the drive out. The second rattle is coming from the rear hatch and can only be heard by a rear seat passenger. Its inside the hatch on the right side. Again, I'll have the dealer check it. Summary...Assembly point defect but I have to admit...The drive out person would be hard pressed to have caught it.

The high beams are a little weak. They lack the spread (left and right) that some of the newer headlights have. Summary...Design issue.

I really like the CVT. Smooth as silk. There is some bogging down at slower speeds under lite acceleration. This occurs below ~42 mph when the tach is around the 1400 mark. I'm sure they are trying to get the best gas mileage possible so I have overlooked this. When I'm trying for the best gas mileage, I will be looking at the 43-45 mph range. Summary...Design decision with gas mileage in mind.

Excellent windshield wipers! Complete coverage.

The blower fan is a little loud on high. I'm sure cost played a factor here.

Above ~3800 rpm, engine noise becomes an issue. I know there are countermeasures for this (engine mounts, counterbalancers, sound proofing), but I just have to remember this is an entry level car. I got tired of putting high dollar gas in my 02 Infiniti Q45 so I made a big change to the Versa. Summary...Design decision with cost in mind.

Visually, the car is average at best. The car is very functional but will need to be visually more pleasing for it to be an outstanding success in the North American market. The interior is very comfortable in the rear but could use better thigh support in the front.

you some improvement

Pros:

CVT trans no shift shock, ease of getting in and out of car, very roomy, 28/31mpg

Cons:

seats don't fold flat cann't get alot of cargo in back, intelligent key cost too much $200

Review:

love the car, but it could be a lot better. needs side molding, temp gauge, gas filler neck located on driver side, rear seats to fold flush with floor, floor mats that don't slide on car floor, more square opening in lift gate area some way to see control buttons on steering wheel at night, larger side view mirrors, sun visor too short

little things that bug me

Pros:

great seating position, ease of getting in &out, spacious interior, no shift shock

Cons:

better gas mileage, goofy front looks [liked Yaris] poor color selection, hard to find controls @ night, no temp gage

Review:

need side molding, temp gage, some BETTER way to keep the floor mats from sliding, rear seats need to fold flat, can't see control buttons on steering wheel @ night, no ash tray, a wider selection of colors, a colder a/c, very hard to find hood latch. I like the Versa very much can't under stand why these little things weren't address when they first built it?
